jenny-jenny

I’m a huge fan.

Our naked-lady-friend and her owl (see last post) inspired me to play around with my favourite fans. Still wrangling with colours for the new collection but it’s all going to be FUN!

To see more things of which I’m a HUGE fan, see the links page. Think you should be on there? Send me an email… hello@jenny-jenny.com

Statement wristwear…

More treasure.

Found this lovely little package for 20p in an art store today…

Amazing packaging. Now getting urges to gild everything in sight. Might give the Midas touch to some old owl figurines for starters.

In collection development news, today I’ve given myself a headache with some metallic enamel paint. Oh the fumes! Coming along though…

How to wear a statement earring…

As demonstrated by Etta James…

Amazing. Would love to get her in a pair of tassels.

New Old Wire

Here are a couple of the reels of wire from the treasure trove, get a load of the gorgeous old labels!

The tall, copper reel is actually really beautiful, such a deep colour. I’ve been playing around with it today and I think it’ll feature somewhere in the collection.

I’m such a sucker for outdated but incredibly designed packaging – I have draws overflowing with old unwearable hosiery, kept for decades just for the packaging. Maybe I’ll share some soon…

Spend, spend, spend…

A jenny jenny bigcartel store has just sprung up here…

http://jennyjenny.bigcartel.com

with a limited selection of styles on sale at reduced prices, call it a pop-up sale shop, call it a last-chance saloon, call it what you will but be sure to buy before they’re gone forever!

The Original…

More trinkets from the treasure chest; is this the earliest incarnation of the Bedazzler?

The ‘Natti’ rhinestone application system in lovely solid-feeling steel and cornflower blue painted wood. As not seen on TV. No info forthcoming on Google either (looking for Fluffits fabric pens is harder than you’d think too, but that’s another story…)

After my initial puzzlement I figured how it worked and had to restrain the urge to bedazzle (or ‘Nattify’?) my entire tablecloth.

I only have a limited number of the original rhinestones and they are a little dull so might l source something sparklier if this treasure features on the finished products. And I must try not to get too carried away with Bedazzling…

Thanks Granny…

So here’s my favourite Christmas gift (aside from the long-gone Toblerone)…

It a box of old silks and things, untouched since the 1950’s that my Granny used to make silk flowers from. The writing on top is my Mum’s from when she was little and just learning joined-up, aww! It says “Stamens, Labels, Bags, Ear-clips & Brooch pins” and contains all of that and many more wonders.

The pure silk fabric squares are in incredible colours and entirely unfaded having been stashed away all these years. There’s even a primitive Bedazzler style contraption.

So this is the starting point for a new collection, lots of work to do but I’ll be keep a full document of the process. Watch this space to see some of the other treasures contained within, and the final result around the end of Feb!

What did you get for Christmas?

I got one special present I’ll share with you later in the week.

New Pieces – Work in progress

Thought I’d show you a sneak peek of a couple of new bits I’ve been working on. Staying true to the tassel, but taking it a step in a new direction. I’d love to hear your reactions, either in the comments here or email me at hello@jenny-jenny.com.

Some more exciting images later in the week. Until then, back to the drawing board…
